Asset Management During De-Installation, Re-Installation, and Disposal
Federal agencies are responsible for total asset visibility - from office equipment, televisions, base supplies and vehicles to location of people. Keeping track of these assets is required to provide accountability, ensure timely inspections and maintenance are scheduled - and to meet regulatory compliance requirements. Vet2Fed understands the IT/Program Manager’s legal obligation to provide accurate information regarding the location of newly installed assets as well as the location of assets after disposal. Our systems provide the Asset Management support required during the implementation of complex programs.

Asset management, data destruction and environmentally responsible recycling solutions provide our customers with a level of asset tracking, data security and compliance assistance that surpasses environmental as well as security expectations. Vet2Fed handles all of the steps involved with obsolete electronics' recovery and disposal and we hold ourselves accountable for every asset managed through our system. For the federal government, asset management is not just about productivity - it’s about fulfilling Agency legal obligations. Total Asset Visibility necessitates reliability, durability, security, manageability and superior uptime that mission-critical applications demand. Vet2Fed and its partners are fully committed to this mission.

Consider the Environment - It’s the Law
EPA’s Resource Conservation Challenge (RCC) seeks to renew the emphasis on resource conservation under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the emphasis on preventing pollution and conserving natural resources under the Pollution Prevention Act. The RCC brings greater urgency to EPA’s message of reducing, reusing, and recycling valuable materials habitually discarded by Americans by linking the importance of these activities to energy conservation and greenhouse gas reductions. One key area of focus under the RCC is electronics.

Surplus and obsolete IT assets including televisions, ATM's, check processing equipment, PCs, monitors, switches, routers, hubs, telecommunication equipment, keyboards and mice may seem harmless, but many of these items contain toxic substances like lead, cadmium, mercury, and beryllium that may be considered hazardous wastes when disposed of improperly.

Is it possible to manage and eliminate the risks of the improper management of IT assets at end of life while maximizing the return on investment for these assets?

Thankfully, the answer here is a resounding yes, but only if you take the appropriate actions in a timely manner. So what does this mean for IT managers? It means you should implement a well thought out life cycle management plan for your IT assets now. Vet2Fed provides numerous solutions and customized service programs depending on your needs and the age of the electronic equipment you wish to recycle and/or dispose.
